An exciting new Art Route with open studios, live music, picnics, and wine tasting and farmers’ market is happening from Fri 2pm - Sun 4pm participating artists include Clare Menck, Sandra Hanekom, Johann Louw (back from the Beijing Biennale) and AntheA Delmotte.
Guest Artists Brahm van Zyl and Madelein Marincowitz from Cape Town will exhibit in historical homesteads like The Coach house, Katzeff houseand at the Synagogue (Museum).
Saturday 5-6pm all participating artists get together in the derelict theatre of The Old Bioscope building to photograph each other and the public isinvited to this happening.
Mr Cat & the Jackal (a Tom Waits-inspired, Africanised Funk-Fusion-Rock group) will perform at the Old Bio theatre on Saturday night 7pm.
You also have the wonderful option to book for a picnic with live music performance in the stunning setting of the gardens of Org de Rac wine farm. (Sat/Sun 12-2pm) and taste their organic wines. Org de Rac is alsothe host of “Singular Perspectives” a Group Exhibition.
The exhibition is expressive of diverse visual sensibilities. The artists have all developed their individual expressive languages over long careers within the art community. Their genres vary from landscape painting, intimate botanical studies, to reflective symbolism. Come and join us for a weekend of singular visual experience and delightful wine.
Picnic baskets can be booked with Bernice or Alda at 022 913 2397 at R100 per adult and R50 per child. On Saturday morning from 9 to 12 am, you can travel up the Piketberg Mountain to the farmers' market. You are guaranteed to be surprised by the unsuspected gem of Piket-bo-Berg.
