The Farmhouse Hotel in Langebaan

The Farmhouse Hotel is one of those remarkable buildings in Langebaan.

The Farmhouse Hotel main building is an original farmhouse and dates back to 1860. The last family to stay in the house on the farm called the Panorama was the Acker family. They are still in Langebaan but the family history is very sketchy.

The building was at one stage a school and also in the Skuur which is situated behind the Farmhouse hotel was a shop were they sold meat, milk and other farm produce.

This is the Hotel and restaurant with the best view in Langebaan, if not in the West Coast.

The restaurant offers anything from breakfast to supper. For breakfast you can choose between a cold buffet or hot farm breakfasts.

The food are well prepared and service good. It might not be one of the cheapest restaurants in town, but then again you cannot expect a cheap restaurant at a 4 start hotel.

On clear days I often visit The Farmhouse to enjoy a cup of coffee and fresh scones.  The scones are not those normal ones you usually get in a restaurant or coffee shop, these are real special ones served with cream, cheese and strawberry jam.

Whenever you visit Langebaan, your visit will not be complete until you had a coffee and scones on the verandah of The Farmhouse Hotel.

The function room at The Farmhouse Hotel is available as a wedding venue, conference facility, birthday venue, work and any other type of function you may need it for.  The Farmhouse Hotel has hosted many functions such as 21st birthdays, private cocktail parties, 40th and 50th birthdays and wedding receptions. The function room is atmospheric, with sea views and doors that open up onto the patio. The main function room can accommodate around 50 people and if a larger capacity is required, the venue can be opened up further to include the main dining room, allowing 80 guests or delegates altogether.

To find The Farmhouse is easy. There is only one road you can use to enter town. That road is called Oostewal Street. You just follow the main road. Pass all the shops, the police station , the church and the army camp untill the tar road finally turns into a gravel road at the yacht club. Just before the gravel you follow the tar to the left and immediately the first road right. You will see the big white building on your right. You cannot miss it.
