The water is blue, that blue I prefer and a refreshing sight after a month and a half of dull green and white sandbanks. This is Stumpnose water. The last few days only a few Kob were caught down on the Line and some more at Spreeuwalle, but only during the night. Elf were also caught down on the Line, not big, around 50 cm in length, but again only during the night. One can expect bigger Elf during the day, but only a few.
Down at Spreeuwalle there are shoals of harders and anchovy. Plenty St Joseph sharks and fairly big Barbel…old folks say where there is Barbel there are Kob. One can expect some shark catches there and Kob from the shore in the deeper holes, but better catches can be expected before sunrise. Should you be a shore angler then take the road from Langebaan to Saldanha and turn off where there is an old caravan standing next to the road, Drive down on the gravel road and walk the dunes and beach..you will know about it the next day, but it might be worth the effort. Your car should be safe.
This weekend one should be able to pump prawn as from 12h00 and target Stumps, that`s what I would do. Saturday should be pleasant in the morning, also Sunday, while a bit of a wind will blow in the afternoons. And it`s going to be hot, so make sure you are protected against the sun.
Well enjoy the weekend, the summer and the blue water and get a fry or two for the pan.
