Langebaan 3rd weekend of December
It`s that time of the year which we call the “Silly Season”.
People just do the silly things like drinking and driving, like allowing small children to swim in the strong tide changes of the lagoon….
Be careful and make a note that when you fish you have your fishing permit or boat permit at hand. Do not take undersized fish, more than what your quota allows or pump prawn more than your tally.
Parks Board and their inspectors are active and there are road blocks on the West Coast roads. Other than that Langebaan is alive and much to do so bring the whole family out and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
It is normal this time of the year to have little wind in the mornings and a fresh South Easter by afternoon..perfect fishing conditions.
The water is very warm, above 20deg….actually strange but the blue colour is back. There are plenty small to medium size Elf, shoals of harders and it is no wonder that the Cob is on the bite down on the Line and also next to the Island. Reports also came in of Yellow Tail down on the Line. The White Stumps are fairly big with a fight to remember on light tackle. They prefer prawn to White mussel. Fresh Pilchard is still the bait for the larger fish but these are taken off the hook in no time. So if you might want to change to chokka bait then surely a Smooth Hound or Spotty shark will get to it before the Cob does.
The Yacht Club is closed for non members so Mykonos slipway is to be used for bigger boats while the Alabama slipway next to the Paaltjies can be used for smaller boats.
Well we are looking forward to a great fishing weekend..keep your Baan clean and be blessed with a fresh Fish!
