VOCALISE
A vibrant young singing trio formed by pianist and coach Danie Theron, makes its debut in the stylish Blue Bay Café on Saturday 10 April with an evening of superb classical and contemporary music. Guests may take their seats from 18h30 and space is limited for this unique event, so booking is essential.
For only R180 guests will be treated to a welcome cocktail, dinner and the performance of a lifetime by VOCALISE – the collaboration of three fine young singers who have already made a name for themselves with the UCT College of Music and Artscape Opera House.
Baritone Thato Machona appeared to critical acclaim on Artscape Opera’s German tour, has won numerous Most Outstanding Young Singer Awards, and is currently studying for a post graduate degree at UCT.
Third year student Maudé Montierre is not only an accomplished actress and high soprano, with productions of Donizetti and Mozart operas under her belt, she is an expert flamenco dancer and plays the castanets – skills she will reveal at the Blue Bay Lodge on 10 April.
Distinctive dark toned mezzo soprano Carynne Jean Wolff has had success in works ranging from the 1600s to modern Broadway and London musicals. This multi-talented performer has also co-directed opera productions for Artscape.
Coach and accompanist Danie Theron worked in London, Athens, Cairo, Bangkok and around South Africa before joining the University of Cape Town’s College of Music seven years ago. His expertise has brought Thato, Maudé and Carynne together into VOCALISE to prepare an enthralling evening opera, operetta arias, trios, musicals and even French and Italian songs for one night only.
